Co-authors and groups
Some scenes are made by more than one person, and some people like to make scenes together. Co-authors share the credit for one scene; a group has a page and a collection of its own.
Co-authors
A scene has one owner, the person who published it. The owner can invite others as co-authors, and once they accept, they're credited beside the owner on the scene's page and on their own page, under With others.
Inviting someone
- On your scene's page, find Co-authors and click Invite someone.
- Type Their name on Motion Hub.
- Tick Can upload versions if they should be able to publish new versions of it.
- Click Invite.
They're told, and accept or turn it down from their notifications or the scene's page. Until then the scene says Invited, waiting for them to accept, and you can Take back the invitation. A scene can have up to 20 co-authors.
What a co-author can do
A co-author who can upload versions publishes new versions the same way the owner does (see Versions and their history). Each version remembers who sent it, and a co-author can withdraw only the versions they sent. Every version keeps the scene's licence, and whoever sends one needs to own Motion, as for publishing anything.
Everything else stays the owner's: the scene itself, its licence, hiding the version before, and any takedown or appeal. A co-author can raise a version's rating or turn on its content flags (Content ratings lists them), but never lower either. When a moderator decides something about the scene, its co-authors are told too.
Stopping
The owner can Remove a co-author. A co-author can Leave: their name comes off the scene and their page, and the versions they sent stay part of it.
Groups
A group is a few people who make scenes together: a crew who make scenes on a theme, a class, a few friends. Each has a page at /groups/ and its name, with its members and a collection that's everyone's in it. The groups list shows them all, Most followed or Newest.
Making a group
On Groups, click New group, give it a Name and say What it's about, then click Make. You're its host. You can host up to 10 groups.
Edit on the group's page changes its name, what it's about and its picture (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 2 MB). Its address stays the same.
Who does what
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Curator | add scenes to the group's collection, and take them out |
| Manager | that, and change the group's page and choose its members |
| Host | everything. The host is never removed. |
To ask someone in, click Invite someone, type their name on Motion Hub, choose what they come in As, and click Invite. They accept or turn it down from their notifications or the group's page. A group can have up to 100 members.
The host can hand the group to another member: Host (hand it over). They become its host and you a manager, and only they can hand it back. A host who wants to leave hands the group over first.
The group's scenes
A curator adds a scene with Add a scene and the scene's link, or from the scene's own page with Add to a group. Any scene everyone can see can go in, anyone's, up to 500 of them. The scenes stay their makers': a group only lists them.
A group's collection works as any collection does. People Follow it, Open all in Motion brings its scenes into Motion Player, and it can be played as a playlist. See Following, collections and picks.
Leaving and deleting
A member clicks Leave. The host can Delete the group: it goes for everyone, with its collection, and the scenes in it stay their makers'.
Anyone signed in can Report a group from its More menu, saying What's wrong?. Only moderators see who sent a report. A moderator either keeps the group or removes it, and its members are told why. A complaint about copyright is about a scene, so send a DMCA request from the scene's page instead.
